Violinist Aleksandra Maslovaric and the Budapest Symphony Orchestra perform the world premiere of Maslovaric’s modern concerto for violin and orchestra.
The three movements of this new concerto for violin and orchestra each has its own trajectory and together guide the listener on an odyssey. The first movement represents the coordinated preparation for liftoff and the initial escape from the pull of gravity.
Somewhere far from home base, the second movement continues the voyage with a tango between cooperative and competing elements. Arriving at “terra incognita,” the final movement seeks to capture the sheer joy and excitement of discovery.
Composer-Violinist Aleksandra Maslovaric, who performs on an instrument crafted by Eric Benning, resides in Los Angeles (somewhere between NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Space Park).
This concerto has been composed from a deep desire to connect and communicate with something higher and brighter. Thank you for joining me on this journey of hope.
In giving life to this new music, I feel honored to continue my collaboration with the stellar artists of the Budapest Symphony Orchestra.
Inspired by an imaginary expedition through the vastness of interstellar space, The Cosmic Concerto is dedicated to the past, present, and future female explorers of our universe.
It is my sincere hope that this music will find a permanent place in your own unique and harmonious sphere of existence.
